A few weeks back H and I decided to treat ourselves to a little pampering, so headed to the Thermes Sextius Spa in Aix-en-Provence. The spa was built on original Roman baths and they still use the natural spring water for some of their treatments.
I absolutely love spas! That moment when you slip on your fluffy white robe and ‘bam’ instant relaxation mode. Since, it was the first time that we had visited this spa we decided to take one of their Aquabella spring water packages to experience a sample of treatments. We chose the:
- Zen Water massage
- Berthollaix, which helps to release muscle tension
- Mud Wrap
- Jet shower
The Zen water massage was by far my favourite.
We had all our treatments in the morning and then took advantage of the rest of the facilities during the afternoon. After a fantastic lunch, which consisted of a very unhealthy big, old, dirty burger and wine, we whiled away the rest of the time at the outdoor pool. We also tried the Hammam (which is a steam room, a bit like a Turkish bath but originating from Morocco), the jacuzzi and the Waff relaxation Studio. It was the first time that we tried the Waff cushions which are ergonomically designed to give the body therapeutic virtues and are beyond comfy and we ended our day well and truly relaxed.
I can’t wait to find another excuse to visit Thermes Sextius, but next time I think that I will have a one hour Zen water massage (it was that good), a mud wrap and a facial (lord knows I’m in desperate need of one!).
Until next time
