I was going through an old hard drive the other day and came across these photos of my last visit to Jamaica. It was at a time when I was doing a lot more photography and decided to do this little self-shot photo story. I love being in Jamaica, there is something about being there that makes me feel settled. It’s also Jamaican Independence this coming week so it’s always good to take a moment and think and reflect about my culture especially when you’re living in a society that can at times seem so far removed from your own.
To the clothes in the shoot…First of all, they are all super old but I still have and wear them to this day. One of the things about buying things that you love over buying things for fashion’s sake is that you’ll want to keep wearing them and adapting them to suit your life. For example the shorts and Vans robot tank I use to sleep in, the other shorts and light pink tank I use to work out in and the Obey tank I love wearing with my black Levis shorts. I’ll put links to similar products below.
What I Wore
Grey Tank Top: Obey (similar here)
Striped Red/Yellow/Green Bikini: Bill-a-Bong (similar here)
Pale Pink Tank: H&M (similar here)
Robot Tank: Vans (similar here)
Final note…I haven’t had an opportunity to watch this yet but, it’s certainly on my summer to-watch list. It’s the new King of the Dancehall film starring Nick Cannon, Buster Rhymes, Whoopi Goldberg and singer/dancer Kreesha Turner available on Youtube Red. These type of dance films are my guilty pleasure, and I think that this film is loosely based on the Jamaican 1997 film Dancehall Queen which I also love.
Anyway that’s all from me lovelies
